چکیده

This paper investigates the skills of autonomous agents to reorganise their society as answer to environmental changes. The reor-ganisation of an agent society can be motivated by the desire to reduce connicts within inter-agent cooperation and to increase the eeciency in achieving goals. Our interest is centered on situations where new agents want to join an existing agent society which has established conventions for agent cooperation. Joining an agent society means that the society can draw beneets from the interaction with the new members having competences which are complementary to the society ones; both, the society and the new members, need to agree on a new convention. We introduce a method for reorganisation based on the principle of punishment : a society punishes or favours the behaviours of its new members.

Norm Emergency through Argumentation

Open societies are situated in dynamic environments and are formed by heterogeneous autonomous agents. In order to ensure social order, norms have been employed as coordination mechanisms. However, the dynamical features of open systems may cause that norms loose their validity and need to be adapted. Therefore, this paper proposes a new dialogue game protocol for modelling the interactions pro...

Modelling Norms for Autonomous Agents

Societies are regulated by norms and, consequently, autonomous agents that want to be part of them must be able to reason about norms. However, no reasoning can be done if agents lack a model of norms that allows them to know how by complying with norms some of their goals might be affected. In this paper, a general model of norms is proposed. By contrast with current models of norms, our model...

A categorization of simulation works on norms

In multi-agent systems, software agents are modelled to possess characteristics and behaviour borrowed from human societies. Norms are expectations of behaviours of the agents in a society. Norms can be established in a society in different ways. In human societies, there are several types of norms such as moral norms, social norms and legal norms (laws). In artificial agent societies, the desi...
